A lot of people would consider travelling to the other side of the city just for pizza to be inconvenient, but Jocelyn certainly did not. She often found herself making special trips to random areas of New York just for a specific cup of coffee, or in this case, a specific slice of pizza. It wasn't just any specific pizza, it was delicious pizza, her favorite, to be exact. Surely others would prefer a more gourmet style of pizza, but this was enough to satisfy her craving. Jocelyn was usually always easy to please.
When you live a life without luxuries handed to you, one gets used to living with bare essentials. The young woman and her father certainly did not have a lot of materialistic belongings as she was growing up, but it did not matter, because Jocelyn could do without the latest barbie doll in elementary school. Eventually, money was a little more available to them, but it wasn't like they used that as an opportunity to go on a shopping spree and load up on trinkets they didn't need. Even for birthdays or special occasions, Jocelyn and her father much prefered the heart and soul that went into homemade gifts and cards. It definitely helped that Jocelyn had a very creative mind, so she was never without a unique gift idea.
Walking in central park was always an interesting experience, especially if one indulged in a little thing called 'people watching'. Very entertaining. Miss Esmeralda was often amused by the broad collection of faces that dwelled in the area each and every day, and every day with a little touch of something new. It was rather cold outside now, and even so, people still thrived in the park. Bundled up in her favorite black wool coat, she wore a colorful striped scarf around her neck, a plum colored knit beret, and a pair of black leather gloves to avoid frost-bite on her fingers. It was always astonishing how many people ignorantly chose to skip out on wearing gloves or a hat just so they could 'look cool'. There was always the option of finding cool looking winterwear if people were just that worried about their appearances. Jocelyn seemed to be more of a natural at picking clothes and outfits to wear, so most of the time she ended up looking quite fashionable in her own random choices.
Arriving at the pizzeria, the young woman could already smell the warm scent inviting her inside. It was getting quite dark outside, even though it was very early in the evening. Most of the people inside looked like families, teens, or couples arriving for dinner, so the majority of the tables were already filling up. Hurrying inside, Joce smiled appreciatively at a handsome young man who had held the door open for her. It was simple notions of kindness like that which could brighten someone's day, and it gave her hope for humankind to see that people in New York still had manners, despite the evidence being rare.
Pulling her gloves off once she was inside, she stowed them in the red-brown leather bag that was slung over her shoulder. The intense smell of pizza coming from the kitchens was overwhelmingly amazing, and it solidified the confidence in her choice to be there right then. Finding a place in line, the young woman waited patiently, despite being the seventh person in line. She was content where she was, knowing exactly what she was going to order. Jo wasn't an entirely picky person when it came to food, but she definitely had her favorites. Thin crust, four cheese pizza with pepperoni, pineapple, peppers, and black olives. Delicious.

WHY did people insist on dragging Quin to the most horrid of placed for lunch dates? Honestly, where they trying to squash what little good nature she actually had? If they were, it was definitely working. What with her father dragging her all the way to China town for ‘the best egg rolls he’d ever tasted’. Now Joc wanted her to come to some greasy pizza shop? For pizza? Eye-roll. The girl only liked pizza when it was highly gourmet, then even then it had to have something that cost fifty dollars a pound to be worth it. Regular pizza was just so common place. Why did she agree to these things? INFACT that was a very good question. Why was she even friends with little moss Brooklyn at all? To the naked eye, the pair was too odd. Well, they were really. A very odd couple indeed. What people didn’t know though, was the history between them. None of which was anyone’s business. All the prying public needed to know though, was they were friends for a reason, and that they should stop judging something they have no way of understanding. Sure, Quin never made friends with people like Joc. So that must mean all the more that she had a good reason right? THIS had better stop though. It was one thing for Quin to slum it by being friends with the girl but she had to start hanging out in quality places. Next time, Quin was going to have to insist Butter, or the quint little French bakery she discovered last week. Well at least it was in central park? That was something to be thankful for. If it was some rat infested outer borough pizza shop, she’d had to have put her foot down. Really. That was one line she was not prepared to cross. Not for Jocelyn. Not for anyone. QUINLEY actually really enjoyed central park. Especially in the winter time. Everything was all so pretty. Smiling, the girl smoothed the collar of her teal coat as she made her way through the park. Black leather gloves covering her slender fingers. A matching black hat atop her blown curls. The girl loved winter clothes. Especially expensive suede boots and leather gloves. The girl had always grown up in the city, and was used to the cooler weather. In fact, she wasn’t sure she’d survive in a place such as California. Maybe she really was cold blooded? But wait, didn’t cold blooded creatures prefer the heat? Oh who cares. SHE was late. Quinley was well aware of that fact. It wasn’t going to make a difference to her pace though. Why should it? Her friend could wait. And if she couldn’t wait, well then Quin wanted nothing to do with her. They’d known each other long enough for her to know that Quin wasn’t one to hurry herself for anyone. She was never late, others were just early. Of course, she knew well enough not to be late to things that were important. Like when she was applying for college and what not. When it came to people that would not decide her fate though. Well, they could wait. PERHAPS it was that she was holding it off. Prolonging the moment she had to step through those doors and suffer the horrors of it all. If it wasn’t so cold she’d suggest take-away. But even that, walking and eating? Just.. Ew. She wasn’t a dog now was she? She couldn’t stand up and eat? Sighing, the girl paused in front of her reluctant destination. It was now of never Quin. Eeek, she was going to need a shower after this. Without even trying to hide her distaste, the brunette stepped inside. Screwing her nose up as she glanced around. IT didn’t take long for Quin to find her friend. Stepping around some common mid-towners, Quin moved her way through the restaurant. If you can call it that… “Next time, I choose the location.”.
