Oliver was a boy who couldn’t sit still for very long. He always had to be moving, and he always had to be doing something. He hadn’t always been that way, it had mostly kicked in after he moved in with the Foxworths. After spending nine years in an orphanage with no one he could call his family, he hated sitting around in boredom. Olly always found himself going up to his adoptive parents and asking them if he could go out for a while. He wouldn’t necessarily have a destination in mind, he just wanted to get out of the house and not waste a day away by sitting in his room or in the house at general. Even when he did get stuck in his house, he was moving around the house trying to find something to distract him from the fact that he was bored. He’d generally end up playing basketball in the driveway or something, doing anything that could keep him busy and occupied.
Generally when Oliver needed to get out of his house, he would call one of his friends to hang out. Sometimes it was friends from his neighborhood, and at other times, it was people that he met at school. One of his closest friends was a boy who was two years younger than him, his sister’s age, and a sophomore at his school. His name was Chip Isaac Potts, and the two had gotten along almost instantly. The way they had met was entertaining to many people, because Chip had actually crashed into Oliver. He had been focusing on his schedule, and Oliver was racing down the hallways of the Collegiate School for Boys, trying to get to his class on time. Chip has basically run into Oliver, and both of them were stunned at first. But it didn’t take long before they were both on their feet again and Chip was apologizing non stop. Oliver remembered his reaction almost immediately, he had told Chip to stop worrying about it, and that everything was fine. Oliver then ended up helping Chip find his class and the two became best friends quickly. The boys exchanged numbers, and Oliver helped Chip through the entire first week.
Speaking of Chip, he currently had plans to meet up with the sophomore at Central Park. His friend had texted him earlier, telling him he had found something shiny on the ground, and he didn’t know if he should pick it up or not. Oliver had advised him to pick it up, and then to meet him at Central Park so he could see what it was. It was an excuse to get out of the house. And Oliver loved getting out of the house, as I established earlier. Since he had an excuse to get away from the monotony of the Foxworth house, he had taken it. He left his house right after sending the text to Chip about meeting him at Central Park, and he was there within fifteen minutes. He made himself comfortable at one of the benches, playing with his phone, texting a few of his friends from school, waiting for Chip to make his presence known.
He made himself comfortable, playing with his phone and waiting for Chip. Next thing he knew, he heard footsteps coming up behind him, and he turned, smiling slightly when he saw Chip standing behind him, “Hey Kid,” He said with a smile on his face, “So what’s the big shiny thing that you were so worried about?” He asked, tilting his head to the side.
