Confident, Nurturing, Street Wise
[/size][/blockquote][/blockquote]Name: Rita Elizabeth Hadley
Nickname(s): Rita, Tia
Disney Character: Rita from Oliver and Company
Age: 22
Birthdate: August 8th, 1989
Birthplace: Brooklyn, New York
Orientation: Straight
Member group: Side-Kick
Education: After graduating from the New York Academy of the Arts, Rita went on to attend a local arts college where she studies dance.
Occupation: She's a waitress at the local cafe.
If Rita ever had to describe herself she would say she looked ready to get up and go. The type of girl that didn't need to spend hours on her hair and make-up to look amazing. Because of her unstable environment growing up she didn't always have nice things. Hand-me-downs were the norm and she tended to stay to safer things. Jeans and T-shirts were durable and she could pack them up and go a lot faster then a skirt or dress. It doesn't mean she's never wanted nice things, they just didn't hold up when you are moving from place to place.
Her hair is dark brown hanging down to her mid back. She normally wears it wild and curly these days, since it gives off that sassy look she's always enjoyed. With dark, captivating blue eyes and long legs, Rita has been able to capture hearts with her dancing. That alone has kept her body toned and fit during her years of being shipped around.
[/size][/blockquote][/blockquote]Best Feature: “My best feature? Well I guess I'm going to have to go with my eyes. Why? Because I like them, that's why. And I have my father's eyes I guess.”
Worst Feature: “My lips? I look like a goldfish for crying out loud. Look at these! They're terrible!”
Something Memorable: Probably what tends to be the most memorable about Rita is her smile. Though Rita will say that she looks terrible, her face glows when she turns on that smile of hers. Couple that with her eyes and she's got a face that captivates.
Confident
Telling Rita that she can't do something is like telling a fish they can't swim, she knows she can do it and will do what she can to prove it. She has not once felt sorry for herself or anyone she was around. You can either make the best of a situation or the worst and she chooses to make the best. She knows how to make things work in her favor, but that's how it works when you grow up in foster care. Coming out on top is something Rita's always tried to master, because she never wanted to be on the bottom.
Nurturing
When Rita was growing up there was no one to really take care of her, so she did a lot of that herself. As she went from foster home to foster home she found herself caring for the younger kids that she ended up being around. Not because it was expected, but because they needed the kind of things she'd never had. That warm hand when they had nightmares and the hugs when things were scary. She's tried to do that as she's moved on through life. She was always the one to notice when someone had a crush or when they were afraid of something. Being easy to talk to helped her in a lot of ways.
Street Wise
Growing up in and out of foster homes Rita understands the laws of the streets. Do what you have to in order to survive. No one will look out for you but you and your family. She's completely loyal to the people she grew up with at Fegan's home for hard to place teens. And with them she was able to find her way into Arts College. But she knows that in the end, money talks. Sometimes you have to do things you don't want to do to make headway in the world.

Positive Traits:
Observant: Paying attention to people is something Rita's made an art out of, what they act like and how they feel. Body language is very important to a dancer and to a street kid. She's always been able to read people and their emotions, which has helped her keep her trouble making friends out of more trouble than they need to be in.
Graceful: The phrase, with style and grace kick ass and take names does describes Rita down to a T. She makes most things seem almost effortless. With a kind of charm and style that most people assume can only be learned from being born and raised above the boulevard.
Intelligent: Brains have gotten her this far and with any luck they will carry her all the way through life. She knows that beauty fades but brains get you into school and keep you there. Without Schooling you can't be anything. She's always been smart, always caught on quicker than most and that has helped her to become one of the top students in High School and College.
Negative Traits:
Bullheaded: When Rita puts her mind to something. That's it, there is really no changing it. She'll blaze on through any trial, bumping her head along the way until she works it out on her own and no one telling her otherwise will get her to change her mind.
Sarcastic: Rita can not STAND stupid people, and sarcasm is the natural defense. Her mouth can get her into trouble with people when she feels like she's surrounded in a see of ignorance and stupidity.
Manipulative: She knows how to work people and to work a crowd to get what she's after. It's not something she's proud of but when the chips are down you do what is necessary.
Most intriguing quirk(s): Rita tends to toss her hair out of her eyes constantly and will start doing dancing warm ups if she's waiting for any long period of time.
Greatest Ambition: To become a famous dancer and then instructor.
Greatest Fear: He greatest fear is to die young like her parents had.
When Rita was about eight years old both of her parents were in a car accident, leaving her orphaned. With no family to care for her she was tossed around in the system. Moving from one foster home to the next. The only consistent thing in her life became dancing, ballet in particular. She would go to the YMCA every day after school to see if she could get in on a dance class or eight, until finally heading home for the evening.
After awhile she found herself taken out of one more foster home. The parents said her attitude wasn't suitable for their home and they just couldn't handle her. With no where else to turn her social worker decided to send her to a place that they called Fegan's. It was the last stop for most kids that had no where else left to go.
Fegan took in troubled teens. From every background and every walk of life. Those that didn't do well in the regular homes always ended up coming to Fegan. They were special cases, though Rita didn't see herself as one.
The old man took her to a ballroom dancing class and she instantly fell in love. The twists and turns, the spins, the dips and being close to a partner, it was all something she found she loved. Fegan made her a deal, if she kept her attitude in check and kept her grades up, he'd let her take classes.
Luckily it worked, with some help form her case worker after she entered the New York Academy of the Arts before making it into Arts College where she continues to study to this day.
[/size][/blockquote][/blockquote]Best Memory: The first moment that Rita saw ballroom dancing was life altering. Watching the dancers spin around and around in their costumes, watching them glitter. They were like spinning soldiers, so straight and perfect. It was something she never forgot. Neither the posture nor the elegance of it.
Worst Memory: She was at school when she found out her parents had died. The principle called her out of class and into his office to tell her. There were people around she had not met before and it all made her little eight year old self nervous. As the principle explained something had happened, her entire world shattered.
Top 3 life-changing moments:
When Rita was five her mother took her to see the nutcracker ballet. It kick started her love affair with dance in general. She wanted to be one of those sugar plum fairies and dance across the stage. That has always been fresh in her mind.
The first night she spent in a foster home every single sound had her looking around. She learned fast to get used to new places after that first night. And always be prepared.
The moment she realized she wasn't a statistic was when she was sitting in her first college class at eighteen. She wasn't pregnant, she'd never done drugs, and she wasn't an alcoholic. She'd beat the numbers.
Family relationships: Rita has no family to speak of.
